Florida en Fuego – Fuego De Mayo is a weekend long ten principled burn held in the heart of North Florida. It takes place in Xanadu Florida, 1593 W Washington St, Monticello, FL 32344. 30 minutes east of Tallahassee, 30 minutes west of Suwanee, off of I-10. This year’s burn will be held from Thursday, May 2nd- Sunday, May 5th 2024 and invitations are available now.

The private property the burn is held on, called Xanadu, is 85.5 acres of Florida wilderness, surrounding a 3-acre spring fed lake. You’ll be camping under a Florida canopy of oak and pine, the surrounding forest providing shade from the Florida sun. Several areas already have been cleared out during our first work/plays weekend and more will be opened up in the future. Still, there will be untouched parts for those that want to go into a deeper area to retreat for the night.

Port-lets will be supplied as well as an effigy celebration organized for Fuego De Mayo. Aside from this, the event is participant driven, and radical self-reliance is expected of the campers who come. This is also a Leave No Trace event, so pack it in means pack it out. We have volunteers to help with Medical and other safety aspects of the burn, but all FEF burns are at your own risk events and all content is supplied by participants and the content and safety are not the responsibility of FEF.

Theme camp registration is open now and interested theme camps are encouraged to come to one of our work/play weekends to scope out an area for their attraction and help shape the land to their needs. This burn will be a kid’s inclusive event with many designs by the Florida en Fuego team to integrate them safely while maintaining the freedom and fun that adults desire in a burn like this.

The burn is a volunteer organized event as well, and anyone wishing to volunteer is welcome to join. It’s easy and you will be trained if you are new to volunteering at ten principled events. We are always looking for volunteers, with or without qualifications. We need all kinds volunteers who work well with others, and have the will to work for the benefit of community. All you need is a willingness and we will find something that will fit you and your skills whatever they may be.
